Authors’ Responsibilities

• The submitted article must be original.
• The submitted article must not contain any statement or information that is intentionally misleading or inaccurate.
• All authors must be aware of and approve the full content of the submitted article prior to submission. The content must represent their own contributions, and authorship must be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the work.
• The submitted article must not have been previously published. An exception may be made for work previously published by the authors in conference proceedings, provided that the manuscript submitted to the Journal of Intelligent Socio-Ecological Systems (JISES) contains substantial new scientific contributions, significant modifications, and extensions sufficient to justify a new publication. The previously published conference paper must be appropriately cited.
• The work presented in the submitted article must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere in any form and must not be submitted elsewhere while it is under review by JISES.
• The submitted article must not violate any privacy rights, infringe any intellectual property rights or other rights of any person or entity, or breach any duty of confidentiality owed by the author(s) to a third party. The submitted article must not contain any material or instructions that could cause harm or injury.
• If any portion of the submitted work is owned or controlled by a third party, the authors must obtain all necessary permissions for its use and provide appropriate documentation where required.
• Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest or explicitly declare that no conflicts of interest exist.

Editor’s Responsibilities

The Editor, together with the members of the Editorial Board, is responsible for:

• Ensuring an impartial double-blind peer-review process for each submitted manuscript, without discrimination based on an author’s race, ethnicity, citizenship, age, gender, religious or political beliefs, or other personal characteristics unrelated to the scientific merit of the work.
• Selecting suitably qualified reviewers and evaluating submitted manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic and intellectual merit, scientific quality, relevance, originality, methodological rigor, and presentation.
• Making final decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts for publication in the journal.
• Ensuring that new Editorial Board members and Guest Editors are provided with appropriate guidelines on manuscript handling, editorial responsibilities, and the standards expected by the journal.
• Ensuring that unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts are treated confidentially and are not used in the Editor’s own research or disclosed to or used by third parties without the authors’ explicit permission.
• Responding appropriately to ethical complaints and allegations and taking suitable measures to investigate and resolve potential cases of publication misconduct.
• Publishing corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other post-publication notices when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Guest Editor’s Responsibilities

Guest Editors are responsible for:

• Defining the scope and topic of special or thematic issues and ensuring that submitted manuscripts fall within the predefined scope.
• Ensuring that suitably qualified and independent reviewers are selected for manuscripts submitted to special or thematic issues.
• Establishing appropriate time frames for manuscript submission, peer review, revision, and publication.

Reviewer’s Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

• Accept a review assignment only when they possess the appropriate expertise to provide an objective and informed assessment of the submitted manuscript and, where appropriate, provide constructive recommendations that may assist the authors in improving their work.
• Inform the Editor promptly if they do not consider themselves sufficiently qualified to review a manuscript or are unable to complete the review within the requested time frame.
• Conduct reviews objectively and evaluate the scientific content, methodology, originality, significance, and technical quality of the submitted manuscript.
• Inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, copyright infringement, substantial similarity, or overlap with other published or submitted work of which they are aware.
• Disclose to the Editor any actual or potential conflict of interest that could affect their ability to provide an impartial review.
• Treat the manuscript, its contents, and any associated data or supplementary materials as confidential and refrain from using or disclosing them for personal or professional advantage.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

The Publisher provides practical and administrative support to the Editor and Editorial Board while respecting and safeguarding their editorial independence. The Publisher supports the protection of intellectual property and copyright, promotes adherence to recognized standards of publication ethics, and works with the editorial team to ensure that the publishing standards and good practices described above are consistently maintained.
